Eggnog for a crowd

Making 48 servings (yields about 3½ gallons)

Multiply the quantities by 48, so:

3 gallons milk
3 to 4 dozen eggs
3 cups sugar
approximately 1½ teaspoons ground nutmeg

Special Instructions

When making a large volume of eggnog, you needn't use as many eggs; they go further when you're making a mass. You can even cheat and add a drop or two of yellow food colouring to dupe your imbibers into thinking your eggnog is richer still, but you didn't hear it from me.
