Scot's Scones for a crowd

Making 48 servings or 12 dozen scones

Multiply the quantities by 6, so:

about 3 lbs of raisins (3 fifteen ounce boxes)
6 cups of hot water
6 lb flour (24 cups)
3 lbs sugar (6 cups)
3 teaspoons salt
2 Tablespoons baking soda
2 Tablespoons baking powder
2 Tablespoons nutmeg
1¼ lb butter (5 sticks)

Special Instructions

Well, yes, forming that many round scones is a real chore. And professional cookbooks recommend rolling out the dough and slicing it diagonally. But, c'mon! who ever heard of rhomboidal scones?
